My heart went oops. A current trending song on one of my favorite social media platforms… and dark hole…. tik tok. Yes, I know China is probably going to find out everything they need to know about me because of this app… but I’ve learned a lot from this app. Like how everyone on this platform has something in common.

Each of us wants to be seen on the for you page, and we each have said “my heart went oops” a few times. Now this can mean many different things but I think for right now, where we are as a generation and where our culture is, this saying / song is trying to draw attention to the fact that we are creating this person that we really aren’t.

We will do whatever it takes, staying up late hours of the night thinking and plotting our next big move on how to climb the social ladder… And then we get so stuck between who we really are and who the world is waiting for us to be.

Now, what I’m not saying is to not pursue your dreams, passions, and allow yourself to be driven for more. If you want to become tik tok famous, launch a clothing brand, or own a Starbucks…. go for it. Chase your dream.

But, what I am saying is that we need to remain in sync with our heart. We need to remain true to who we really are - not getting lost along the way and one day finally slowing down, looking in the mirror and not being able to recognize who’s looking back at us.

The biggest thing that I stand by and believe is that everyone is created on purpose and for a purpose. I also know how hard it can be to hold onto that purpose because your heart longs for a community and culture to accept you.

I want to encourage you and leave you with this… when you feel your heart saying oops, allow that to refocus you. Allow that moment to point you back to who God has created you to be. Have honest conversations with yourself. Allow this moment… that oops moment to look you in the face.

You are worth the original dream God placed inside of you.

You are worth more than what our culture says you are.

You have a purpose.

Questions:

  1. Who are you? / Who does God call you to be?

  2. What are you currently dreaming of?

  3. What is your heart saying oops over right now?

  4. When’s the last time you had an honest & open convo with someone about where you are in life?
